Would you list cybersecurity as a key priority in your Human Resources strategy?
In truth, HR is a key player in the prevention of business security breaches and the role is growing. The past few years have seen a dramatic shift of work to remote and hybrid offices, increasing the vulnerabilities, gaps, and overall risk in security by businesses. A recent Survey of 120 global cyber leaders found 59 percent of all respondents would face difficulties in responding to a cybersecurity incident due to the shortage of skills within their team. The U.S. has a total employed cybersecurity workforce consisting of more than one million people, and there are 600,000 unfilled positions.
There is a hacker attack every 39 seconds. Over 60% of businesses will have a cyber-attack of one kind or another. An estimate 71% of businesses became victims of ransomware in 2022. 52% of the attacks confirmed were due to human error... and of those, 34% of all the attacks that happened in 2022 were business email compromise attacks. Research shows that employees are often the root cause of business security breaches. Lack of security awareness extends beyond phishing emails and physical security procedures and protocols.
Training is needed and will help, but better security will require cultural change, creative recruiting, and retention cybersecurity plan. Join us to discuss the current state of cybersecurity in businesses of all sizes and industries and the change in the Human Resource role as cybersecurity breaches become a leading cost of doing business.

About the Speaker:
Marilyn Beavers is the Senior Vice President of Human Resources for a cybersecurity company. She has over 25 years of experience in HR, with three years at Sollensys. Marilyn has a background that began as a benefit provider, moving quickly into Human Resource consulting and Information Technology, through which she has gained a unique understanding from many perspectives. She has consistently worked with companies of all sizes and complexities, from Fortune 500 firms to start ups, with a heavy focus on cybersecurity, energy, healthcare, and governmental entities
Marilyn has played a significant role in building the company's staff and culture from the ground up, ensuring that the company's HR policies comply with all applicable laws and regulations. She shares her expertise drawn from years of personal experience in the business world through speaking engagements, mentoring, and sharing training on cybersecurity and blockchain training.
